Located on a prestigious two-acre parcel just a short block from the main gate of Princeton University, our redevelopment in historic downtown Princeton, New Jersey was selected by the borough in 2002 after a public RFQ/RFP process. Our team worked closely with municipal officials to design an overall redevelopment plan for the site, with a total project cost in excess of $25 million.
The project included construction of a new 500-car public parking garage, a new 15,000 square foot public plaza, two private mixed-use buildings containing 77 units of rental housing (with 12 affordable units and 65 market rate units), and approximately 15,000 square feet of ground-floor retail. A new 58,000 square foot Princeton Public Library was also a key part of the site redevelopment. The two highly-finished, mixed-use buildings are designed to screen the garage, as well as provide a new vitality and architectural richness to the downtown Princeton streetscape.
The Princeton Downtown Redevelopment Project won the coveted “Smart Growth” award for excellence in design and planning in 2005, as judged by New Jersey Future. This project is 100% complete with a total market value of approximately $35 million.
